I Was Made for You

The patchwork pieces

of my mended heart lie perfectly

in the places yours are worn.

We stitch our well-weathered

hearts together with the threads

of empathy and understanding.

Together, we mend and heal the

jagged edges of our tattered souls.

For every massive mercurial leap into mania,

you’ve been my tether, my lifeline, my crash landing site.

You are my jester, my comic relief, my bringer of light.

Your quietness and sereneness

gives welcome peace to my unquiet mind;

sanctuary, safety and sanity in you, I find.

You are the peanut butter to my jelly,

You are the calm reason to my

 tendency to be loud and yell-y.

You are the giver of gifts never-ending,

those that truly keep on giving.

The knowledge that I am

made of tougher stuff,

not just cuteness, dimples,

curls and fluff.

You shine back to me

all the possibilities that be,

if I only just believe.

No more thinking happiness

is light years away,

too far out of sight

to see.

Happiness lives within but cannot

exist without love and acceptance;

you taught me that I must love myself

before I can truly love another.

You are Mozart to my

Me First and the Gimme Gimmes,

you are the sunrise to my sunset,

the sweet to my sour

within your words

I find strength and power.

Yes, it’s true;

I was made

for you.
